But that was after the fact, that public perception of it was basically ruined.

If it had launched much cheaper, it would have probably had more sales early and more developement of games for it => more buyers lateron ect.

It would be a much differnt picture overall, by now.

$250 is still more expensive than $0.

The Vita was already a loss leading product. Loss leading products depend on 3rd party support, more buyers are irrelevant if you have to lose more money to get them. And the point of consoles is to make money, not to sell units.

Then they spent to much on the design of it, if it needed to be sold at 250$ to make any profit.

Thats the thing to take away from this, portables cant be sold that expensive and still thrive.

Nintendo where smart, after 5 months of bad sales, they cut the price to 169$.

You're right, but you see this is exactly why Sony failed with the Vita. The PS4 was the first time they sold a console at a profit. They always overdesigned their consoles in the past, taking a loss on the system so that they would get all the third party support.

That fucking failed with the PS3 cause of the 360, and it failed again with the Vita because price.

But at the same time, is it even possible that Sony could compete against Nintendo, with the same or cheaper hardware on the handheld front, Nintendo who has been the GOD AND CREATOR OF THE HANDHELD MARKET FOR ALL OF TIME ? It was a forgone conclusion that the Vita would be to expensive, it had to be. A catch-22 if you will, to be competitive it had to be expensive, which makes it not competitive. The PSP sold a lot of units yes, but for Sony it was a failure because of the piracy, those memory cards happened because of the PSP.

Congrats now the piracy is blocked, oh what's that piracy was the only thing selling the system? Shit....

OH WHATS THAT now the console is even MORE expensive. SHHIIIIIIIIIITTTTT!!!!
