Nintendo's heritage is as a toy company, so that's really not a slight (Ultra Hand, Love Tester, heck the NES was distributed in the US initially by Mattel ... a toy company, etc. these are toys). Their game philosophy in a lot of ways has more in common with the toy industry than the electronics or computer industry. They view the game industry through the prisim of being a toy company, Sony sees it through the prisim of being an electronics company, Microsoft through a computer software company.
