Sticker price matters more than inflation. People form opinions and have ideas of what a product is worth. No one is going to go into a store, look at a $500.00 game console and go "You know what? That's fucking expensive but, given inflation, it's about right. I think I'll buy it." They simply don't do that.
$299.99 is STILL the sweet spot for a game console just as it was for the PS2. It's up the big three to figure out a way to make their products great and get them out at that price or convince us that the added inflation costs are worth it. The burden is not on us to adjust for inflation.
