So, what were your expectations on Wii U in regards of success?

My initial feeling was if they're going to do the "1 generation behind Sony/MS" thing again they needed an incredible controller, so when it turned out to just be a tablet controller, I had that "uh oh" bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Trying to sell a console on the back of a controller doesn't work unless the controller is legitimately something ground breaking. 

It's like saying you want to be a model, but you're not good looking ... it ain't gonna work. 

I was fairly pessimistic on the console, but when they had that Bayonetta 2 conference with Call of Duty, I thought "OK maybe just maybe they can pull this off".

I did not forsee casuals abandoning Nintendo so rapidly though. Like they all left.
