Also, when it comes down to raw power, it doesnt really matter what a PC can do. Show me a single 2005 PC (that is technically more powerfull then a PS3) that could run a game like UC3. That is the extra you are getting with a console: one configuration that is optimized for years to come.

Show me a single 2005 home console that could run a game like UC3. PS3 wasn't available until late 2006, here in Europe even after March 2007. ;)
And the PC situation at the start of the 7th console gen was much different than at the start of the 8th console gen. The Xbox360 was more powerful from the start than any (non-SLI) gaming PC... Core2Duo and 8800GTX weren't released yet. PS4 + XBO didn't top any non-SLI gaming PC in 2013.

Actually both the X360 and PS3 were baesd powerwise on high-en 2005 tech. You can change what I wrote to 2006 and 2007, and my point still stands. Hell you can go back to the start of the 6th and 5th generation and my poin t is still valid. Consoles are meant to be gamecentric optimization boxes. And they are perfect at that.

Yes but i think your missing what Conina is saying.
The 360 and PS3 where like really high end systems when they launched compared to PC. It took like until 2008-9 before hardware could be got cheap enough to outperfom both of them pretty easy.
Big difference this gen is Both Sony and MS went cheap on hardware since they didnt want to take huge loses this gen (And you cant blame them) so they launched systems that instead of being high end was just like mid range pc's, and i dont mean that in any bad way its just a simple fact.

I think that is mostly down to the fact that this generation will not last 7-8 years, it will probably be something in line with 5-6, like previous generations. The transition period between the 2 hurt the industry IMO, and that is what they speculate about now. + the fact that Nintendo made it pretty well last gen with an underpowered console, maybe made them trust developer power more, then hardware superiority :-?
