I called they would do this MONTHS ago as a means to get a holiday boost for the smaller model. So yeah, called it. And I very well might be interested. It's cheaper than the Xl, has a larger screen than the original. I may very well be willing to give up my traditional XL for this.

Me too!:P It was obvious, releasing one model from the revisions pair, which manages to give impetus to sales/keeping them flat and  then releasing  the other one new model later, which implies repeatition of the same/similar beneficent situation and certaintly preventing a possible imminent drop of hardware sales, while treading to holidays with the presence of both models(a robust combination),when sales are resurging/skyrocketing,it's definately a smart buisness move,at least in this case!

Well,my suggestions of 2DS going from 129$ to 99$,and new 3ds late year release that  I had made sometime in early 2015(in a thread about, what can push 3DS)are being fulfilled(I'm looking forwad to see their impact,I'm confident about New 3ds providing a big boost,as for the cheaper 2ds  perfomance,I'm cautious for apparent reasons, even though I'm a person who believes much in the effect/power of price drops!

Therefore, I hope that nintendo will materialize the other two suggestions of mine, namely 3DS going from 149$ to 119$ and 3DS xl from 169$ to 139$(feasible and not all inimical, manufacturing cost is low(95$-99$) and they are 4 and 3 years old models respectively, the extra costs must have been curtailed a lot),in order to get rid of that huge stagnant stock, with an aftermath  of giving more space for the new models(and later in 2016 to lower the prices of them too)through otherwise you can't ship/or to be asked to ship as much as units as  you would without the existence of that stock,as a result producing shortages of the new models and  making them hard to be found  in fairly many places( and people knowing that there are enhanced revisions aren't going to buy the inferior models unless their prices are very tempting),which is something expected and have been prooved for New 3ds/xl,I surmised that from  straight claims about that topic from statements of the dearly departed Iwata!

P.s Hence the late adopter-wannabe 3ds onwers,or the already 3ds owners that refused/will be refusing to upgrade due to the fact that they desire just the smaller model which wasn't released(but not anymore since it's finally being released),a considerbale proportion of New 3ds xl owners might want new 3ds also(some people for collecting purposes perhaps and others because they were wanting new 3ds from the beginning but compromised by purchasing New 3ds xl)it sounds far-fetched but you never know!
