Thanks, that's is kind of what I thought.

Not knocking the game, just surprised at it's massive following.

I wonder how many people have played Warcraft now?  Not just one sitting, but really played a while so they know the world, some lore, etc.

It's like years ago they, I think when Halo: Reach was coming out that as many people have played a Halo game as had seen a Star Wars movies - or some kind of comparison.

Warcraft is over 20 Years old now. Each RTS sold stupidly high numbers, and the MOBA genre came from a Warcraft 3 mod.

World of Warcraft peaked at 12 Million subscribers, IIRC. Not 12 Million total sales, but subs at a certain point. The Warcraft TCG was running for 6/7 Years, and was replaced by Hearthstone which has taken the TCG world by storm in popularity with over 30 Million registered accounts. Add on to that several best selling novels by accomplished writers, the lore has expanded to literally Millions of people worldwide.

The Warcraft film thats being made right now has a budget north of $100 Million. You can bet it wont be just Warcraft enthusiasts who go and see it.

Warcraft as a franchise, right now, is one of the biggest on the market.
