Fact is: Nintendo has done many things in the past they never have done before.
- they had never released a controller with an analog stick before the N64
- they had never released a dual-screen handheld before the DS
- they had never used touchscreen input before the DS
- they had never digital distribution of games before the eShop
- they had never released a home console with motion controls before the Wii
- they had never released a home console with a tablet controller before the Wii U
- they had never released HD games before the Wii U
- they have never released apps/games for iOS and Android, but they are going to
Shall I go on? Things change! Even for Nintendo.
