It's been over 30 years now, THREE DECADES, and these poor little climbers have no sequels and any signs of them having one. If any Nintendo franchise deserves a sequel, it's the Ice Climbers for being a LAUNCH TITLE on the NES, and nothing since. That long, and their exclusion from Smash 4 only adds insult to injury.

I think a sequel for them would be nice to revitalize the franchise. Kid Icarus: Uprising is NOTHING like the original game from what I hear and see. It's very apparent from Smash 4 just how much was added compared to Brawl for Kid Icarus. Ice Climber can easily fix its horrendous controls in this modern era, and I see it most fit as a puzzle-platformer 2D/3D game, though it can probably work on other genres just like what Sakurai did to Kid Icarus. I can see so many possibilities for the Ice Climbers and the uniqueness it can have. Of all the Break the Targets I found the most unique and fun in Melee, it was the Ice Climbers throwback stage. The platforming and miles better control has so much potential that's untapped.
