Regardless, mafia is asociated with the italian or sicilian mafia only. Movies, shows and books that are about "the mafia" is about the italian mobsters. 

That necessarily isn't the best defense. just because something is normally associated with one thing, doesn't mean it cannot be associated with others. Namely when the word itself in the simplist defination means organized crime syndicate. It is like if I took the word Pirate and just associated with 1700s Pirates, that wouldn't be correct, and yet people only think those pirates.
