A) The porting is given to an outside or lesser developer so that development resources aren't wasted (and Sony's already delay-prone studios aren't delayed even further). As awsome as the bolded would be, Activision holds the rights to Crash. Sony wouldn't be able to do anything with it. Not even as a PSone classic. I would love a totally redone Crash or just a brand new Crash altogether.  I completely agree with everything you've stated though.

Really? Don't Sony still own the rights to the original Crash games?

I'm sure they own the rights to the ones released on PSone. However, for Sony to re-release it again would require licensing from Activision since they have full total rights to the Crash franchise.
