This is almost certainly a bright point for Sony, as (surely) the worst the of the PS3 issues are behind them - now they can focus on selling, and actually making some money out of the box (rather than just losing money on product R&D).

If by making money, you mean losing $500 million as outlined in Sony's financial report.

Well, you have to admit, going from losing 2 billion down to 500 million, a 75% reduction, is quite a turnaround.
