Splatoon is a very serious contender for my game of generation so far

I guess they are "very Nintendo" because they are colorfull and charming, but the thing is... it doesn´t really look or sound like anything Nintendo has done before, it looks more like a game from Sega from an aesthetic pov.

And I don´t remember Ratchet  spreading ink with a bucket, a inkbrush or a roller, or transforming into a kraken.

It's their artstyle, Nintendo have a look, Splatoon isn't unique artstyle, it's Nintendo that has a unique artstyle. 
You can't say it's unique then say it's more like a Sega game xD

I meant that Ratchet an Clank has incredibly unique weapons throughout the entire franchise. Not that they had weapons similar to Splatoon, I should've made that more clear.
