We are talking about the PS3 improvement in the first half year 2008 compared to PS3 in the first half year 2007, not compared to PS4!

And the pricecuts of second half 2007 were not temporary, the PS3 was much cheaper in in the first half year 2008 than in the first half of 2007.

But if you want to compare the first half of 2008 PS3 with the first half of 2015 PS4: even the Batman Arkham + Witcher series are much smaller IPs than GTA or MGS, Mortal Kombat is quite irrelevant nowadays and Bloodborne + The Order are new IPs. The PS3 also had DMC4, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Burnout Paradise, GRID and Battlefield Bad Company in that time frame... but all of them together don't have the impact of a GTA or an exclusive MGS.
