No official word from Squeenix, but they did not dispute Horii's words, so it's probably a go.
As an aside, I watched the trailer just now, and enjoyed the part where I am told I can play as my favorite Final Fantasy characters, and then promptly shown my three least favorites in the series' history. Just a fun note.
