Does everyone realize that Microsoft wouldn't have access to the 32bit/64bit licensing agreement if they purchased AMD. That purchase would mean AMD CPUs are dead. It'd be a shame if the next architecture is actually good. If they can find a way to keep the license, then I think with Microsoft backing we could really get some competition into the hardware sector.... I just don't see how that would be possible.

They actually said that wouldn't be a problem. http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/anton-shilov/amd-x86-license-agreement-with-intel-cannot-block-our-merger-or-acquisition/

Besides, even if it does affect the agreement then chances are they could just renegotiate it straight away, it's beneficial for Intel as well as them and with Microsoft behind them as well it shouldn't be too hard to get a deal done.

If that is true, I would be all for it. AMD with Microsoft backing might just be the hardware market needs. That being said, Kitguru.net isn't what I would consider a high quality source.
