If you think Splatoon is anywhere near FF7 or DQ11 then you might want to reexamine things.

Maybe DQ because it stayed in the relative consciousness of Japan gaming, but FF7? Most of the people who played it in Japan have had kids of their own who couldn't care less about it. Heck thanks to the giant dev cycles between FF games and the bad sales and reviews of FFXIII I kinda doubt that it will receive much goodwill from a new generation of japanese gamers. I just don't think it will do all that well.

Oh its not that. Its just that I don't think that some DQ spinoffs and a remake of a game from the mid 90s will singlehandedly revive the console market in Japan. It would need to be something like a cultural phenomenon to do this feat.
