The worst case would be if it's another system with absolutely no thought put into it, relying on a gimmick that nobody asked for and that nobody knows how to take advantage of, underpowered and overpriced with no third party support, thus once again completely worthless to anyone that isn't super into a large number of Nintendo franchises, overall still just way behind the times and if it would still be successful even if only moderately, prompting Nintendo to continue with that strategy.

Best case scenarios would be if either the NX is a system as described above that crashes and burns for that reason, leaving Nintendo with no choice but to either completely revamp their hardware branch or just leave the hardware business altogether or if the system is truly good and worthwile (meaning either truly innovative in a useful way or doing as much as the other systems and more in terms of games and features) and successful for that reason.
