Indies appeal to Nintendo fans, unlike games like CoD and the like, look how many indies are colorful, gameplay focus, platformers,etc. on Nintendo consoles , those are our types of games and so we buy them, maybe a Nintendo owner may not buy an Assasins Creed, but they would buy a Shovel Knight, besides most indies don't take away features for the Nintendo versions of their games so they also have our trust, at least that how I think.
