You make the case that the console market will remain in existance, but not that it would remain on Xbox. If you could have a tablet that plays the Xbox exclusives or a PC for those that are fine with that, then the logical choice for the living room is either a Sony or Nintendo device with exclusive software you can't play anywhere else. I think you are projecting the view of an Xbox fan on the whole spectrum of gaming, where you will play with all the options they give you. As you can see with the difficult time the X1 has in penetrating the EU and Japanese markets that that isnt going to work easily. Not everyone is willing to invest on all these devices, especially if they have the same use. It just makes no monetary sense. I agree that it creates a larger community, but this community will come from the other platforms, otherwise we wouldnt even be having this conversation and MS would be totally happy with just the home box. |
No, I am making the case that you are looking at this whole issue through a very conservative and limited way. The console market as you are reffering to is dead, gone, finito. Sony is moving towards PSNow, making Playststation titles available on TV´s, Laptops, even tablets. Nintendo is looking into smartphone and tablet games and MS are forming a complete infrastructure that encompas all manner of hardware.
And If I get all om my XBox exclusives along with multiplatform titles on my XBox, why would I want a PC?
