He does sound like what one might call a "God". |
Long read, but worth it:
Right, but he's not, at least not in the traditional sense. He's not omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent until the end of his journey and only through a certain release of energy. But even then he never believed it was his job to make everything ok or answer prayers or whatever. He believes it best for the growth of all of existence to learn to adapt for their own sake. He's not it's creator or anything. The idea is that the multiverse was always there, but he manages to surpass even the creator of that when it's time....it's not that he couldn't be considered a "God", it's that saying he's a god is inaccurate and not complete. There's no word to describe how powerful he becomes.
Just to note he doesn't actually start out as powerful as he is; his beginnings are as a kid with limitless potential capacities.
You know what? I'll spoil the ending. He becomes an infinitely ascending being and what happens is he ends up ascending so far outside as well as inside every known universe at both the macro and micro level he ends up creating new domains. A domain being 1 level of an infinite set of universes. He learns very quickly that the "God" of the general universe he had been most familiar with only had dominion over 2...but Gaia (in his Light Incarnate form) continues to gain domain control over hundreds, then thousands, millions, then billions of domains each containing countless universes. He goes so far and then even begins to pick up speed wondering if there was ever an end point. He keeps creating countless domains (past the 2nd domain there is no life in all the universes, just empty space with potential to create) with no purpose and then finally he notices a spiral web pattern of how the domains are interweaving into each other.
He keeps going though still, but with no change in the spiral web pattern of domains. He decides to speed up even further, and after about an Earth year of creating who knows how many empty spacial domains, something changes a little and he notices it. He speeds up his ascension even further to the point of him noticing pain, even at his incalculably powerful form.
He finds a white door at the end with nothing behind it. When he opens the door there's just a white chair inside, almost seemingly fit for a king. In it is himself sitting in it. He looks at this clone of himself, they talk a little. The Gaia who was sitting in the chair tells the Gaia who entered through the door that he sent a clone of himself back as a powerless kid and lived out another cycle due to boredom (the golden tare was try point). A discussion of how many Gaia's ever existed insued. The Gaia the story revolved around asked the former Gaia if he went any further than here. He replied that there was no point.
At this point Gaia (the main character) for the first time in his life begins to feel sad in a way he never imagined. He always tried to ascend further and further. But now, there was nothing to accomplish. Gaia found his origin and he found out what it meant to reach the top of tops. It was a humbling experience and one that no one that ever lived had felt...well except the former Gaia.
Gaia says he's not done yet. The former Gaia thought so and agreed to be absorbed by Gaia (they would never have qualms with themselves, them truly understanding one another). From then on Gaia continued to ascend, but occassionaly he would wonder to himself why former Gaia never went beyond where he was. The lesson he learned is that no matter how much one accomplishes or how far you go, you always need purpose. You're never supposed to complete all of your goals and seeing himself like that he realized that former Gaia had in a way given up.
He considers playing as an actual god and doing good unto everybody, but quickly rescinds that idea. His stance that all of existence should be able to stand on it's own feet, or tentacles or whatever still stands. Gaia considered creating clones of himself or other beings to keep him company as he ascended, but clones of himself would be too agreeable and other lesser beings wouldn't be able to relate to him, and unfortunately for him he has no need for materials or intellectual desires at this stage of being.
He keeps on ascending from there for eternity, occassionally checking on the rest of existence in case of issues too large for the cosmos to handle. It's lonely at the top but he can thank former Gaia for showing him relatively what nothing and no one else could, which is what would happen if he stopped trying...he would have given up. There's nothing else to do but keep going and he knows it.
