just what i thought when i first read iwata quotes.
And i think that makes sense.
Nintendo struggle to develop a continuous stream of games for 3DS and wii U, and they are adding NX and mobile.
If they keep only NX and mobile, is possible to bring a satisfatory stream of games for both systems. But if they keep 3DS it will be harder to achieve.
Also, if 3DS and wii U keep the same lifetime as their predecessors, the end of their lifetimes would be at the same time. With both sucessors came at the same time, it could be a single hybrid/fusion system.
