I really don't think acquiring Capcom would be that big of a game changer. They have three major IP -- Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, and Resident Evil.
Nintendo already has Monster Hunter. Street Fighter has a deal with Sony. That leaves Resident Evil, which quite frankly is a tired franchise in a lot of ways and Nintendo's had RE exclusivity before and it didn't really sell that great on the GameCube.
Using the Marvel analogy, why not just take that further ... perhaps a deal with Disney that lets Nintendo make games based on Marvel properties for say 5-10 years? That would be big and more relevant to the modern audience.
