| RolStoppable said: It should be a big deal, yes. When Iwata hints at it being not just about your purchasing history, but also your gameplay history and recommendations to other NNID users, then there has to be more to it than just Club Nintendo with a new name. Theoretically, gameplay history could mean a system-wide achievement system that nets you actual rewards, but I don't think Nintendo would open it up that way; you could get third party download titles with super easy achievements that try to sell solely on that premise. It's more likely that an achievement system would be restricted to first party titles and selected Nintendo-approved third party titles, but in that case an equivalent to Gamerscore or Trophies would be unnecessary and instead Nintendo games would simply continue to have their individual tailor-made in-game achievements. |
I think it will be bigger in scope than just achievements, but I definitely think that would fit in with how they've been talking about it. I do think it will be more than just a dedicated rewards program though, but a way to control their, to be vastly expanded, ecosystem. I think it'll tie in with their mobile games, theme parks, and eventual movies somehow.
