Phantom Dust has no more developper, not cancelled but not being worked on

Well, some developers have nothing to be ashamed of, look at Horizon, announcement + insane gameplay at the same time .

Fan service projects tend to get announced before gameplay is actually ready to be shown. This includes Shenmue III and FF7 Remake.

Killer Instinct was a game I'm surprised we saw gameplay of when announced.

Well it's a bit different there since we know Shenmue, it's the third Shenmue so it doesnt necessary need gameplay, we know what kind of game to expect. ( and he didnt really announced SHenmue 3 but the kickstarter to develop Shenmue 3 ) , and FF VII Remake, i dont need to say it, it's a clear remake everyone knows this game, the only surprise will be how much they changed gameplay and visuals but it's not really the same thing as an unknown IP announced withotu gameplay

 

While Phantom Dust situation was strange, we didnt really know if it was a remake, a reboot and most didnt know this game, it didnt sell a lot, it would have been better to introduce it with something represented the game and not this CGI

Based on what knew, Phantom Dust was a reimagining of the original game.

Like I said before, fan service projects often teased well before we see gameplay. But it was in development and we even saw leaked footage. Phantom Dust certainly had a following based on reactions on the web. Albeit small compared to other classic IPs.

My guess is Phantom Dust will eventually resurface as a crossplay, F2P, X1/PC game. Maybe MS can get Iron Galaxy to do it, they already have a history of working on X1 and took over Killer Instinct. MS announced it at E3 and people will keep pushing them for it.
