I'm not dreaming of anything as the way they're going about it won't work. As you said, brain research is next to none, we know more about the universe than the brain at the present and so proper VR is far from existing. The hype for VR won't be what catapults research in neurology though, it'll be smaller individual things in medicine. I wouldn't expect any sudden revelation in gaming to occur in VR until at least the 2030s.
