buying metroid games would help the franchise, but it would not really demonstrate people's disinterest in what nintendo is currently doing. If I see that the wii u is dooing poorly, does me buying a gamecube really send my message out?

Change.org is made for change, simple as that. There may be underlying moral issues that went into creating it, but it is still a website for change. So why not utilize it to change Nintendo's way of taking the easy way out (making budget games instead of full retail releases)?

I'm sorry, but Metroid fans are definitely now in my list of top 5 worst fanboys.

Think about how many games have spinoffs. I have never seen a freakout like this before.

Why are people freaking out so much over a side story? People did not freak out with the Halo developers when Halo 3: ODST featured the spartans and not Master Chief.

Hyrule Warriors - a Zelda spinoff. Did people freak out? No, not really. Link's Crossbow training? Nope.

This game is set within the Metroid universe, expanding the story. Also it has four player co-op and online play. Something a lot of people like to see in games is online co-op.

It has become obvious that Metroid fans fear any spinoff, or any change whatsoever. Samus' portrayal did not meet the imaginations of what people perceived to be in Other M, so they freaked out then too.

If people do not want the game, they should just avoid it like the plague. A petition is simply petty.

It's not just metroid fans, its nintendo fans in general. You wanna make spinoffs, sure go ahead, but after (or at least during) you make one in the main series.

Having only played metroid prime, I don't really consider myself a huge metroid fan, but even I can relate to what is going on.

The last metroid game by Nintendo was 2007. To say metroid is coming back before e3 got many people very excited. And then instead of making a metroid game to compete with the other high quality exclusives of the other companies, Nintendo opted for a tiny budget game as a quick cash grab.

It's not just Nintendo, so please stop generalizing fans of a game. Had Bethesda announced fallout shelter (the ios game revealed at their e3) and said nope we are actually not working on fallout 4 even though we led you to believe that, people would have gone bat shit crazy for an apology from them too.

Again, people avoiding a game does not really present a good message given how there are many reasons why a game might fail. People avoiding this game may just make Nintendo think that nobody wants a metroid game

I'm sorry some people actually take action for what they want instead of simply letting Nintendo do whatever they please. Clearly they are just babies making a petty fuss as you claim.
