I don't understand who they're trying to appeal to with this game. The Metroidvania sub-genre is well and alive. So I believe Nintendo should have catered to the fans of the classic Metroid games, and actually made this title the sidescroller that everyone was expecting ever since it was rumored to be in development for the 3DS.
