HD only really matters to tech heads and technophiles at this early juncture. Less than 10% of the consumer market actually has HD TVs and for Nintendo to go back on such a conservative move as avoiding the investment in HD would only show a loss of face and be a costly waste. I have no doubt their next console will have it, but by then I think we'll see at least 50% of the market have HD if that much.
