I don't think that's an issue. What most people seem to be saying is that the game lacks content and it's only once all the free dlc lands that it's content matches a $60 game.
If that's correct, then people should have a choice. Some people see the value some don't, why not release game for $40 to match its content and $20 dlc pass. Or small price for DL. packs so the total will never go over $20.
That way people can choose how broad to make their experience.
If claims are true about the content, it's not worth $60 plain and simple no matter claims of hours of play.
Other than this splatoon hasn't done much wrong.
