Pacing. I remember back in the PS1 era a lot of my favorite RPGs were only like 30-40 hours long. Lengthy enough to get your money's worth but not so long that it becomes a drag to play. Then in the PS2 era every JRPG started stretching out their length as much as possible. 60 hour games, 80 hour games, 100 hour games, you had to take a 6 month vacation from work just to finish a damn game. Between neverending cutscenes, ton and tons of filler content, and MMO-like design decisions, it became clear that Japanese developers had lost their way with me. That was pretty much when I switched from JRPGs to WRPGs as my go to genre.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
