Duh Splatoon had huge marketing. Are you trying to say that no other Wii U game will ever get a big marketing campaign in the future? Its demographic is irrelevant.

Xenoblade has sold a total of 107k in Japan right now. I can guarantee you that Yoshi, Mario Maker, Star Fox, Animal Crossing, Super Mario Galaxy 3 and Pokken Fighters would sell significantly more (in addition to SMTxFE).

Now now, I disagree with Aerys, but demographic is relevant. Splatoon catered to the shooters and a Nintendo fanbase that don't own the system.

Sure, with a marketing campaign Yoshi and Mario Maker could sell well, but those won't sell systems. Every 2D and 3D platformer fans already own a Wii U, so those can't sell systems. A Mario Galaxy 3 could, but that's because Mario is a huge IP.

StarFox is (nowadays) a niche genre, but it could be the same case as Splatoon. Animal Crossing, SMTxFE, and Pokken Fighters (I do doubt this will come to Wii U) have a good chance though, thanks to them being very big franchises in Japan, and the crossover title expands the possible fanbase.

Either way, this is the Wii U, so I always lower my expectations by 3x the original (optimistic) prediction
