Brazil was bad in that regard (for a handful of stadiums), but Qatar is going to be much worse.

True, the same is the case in South Africa. World Cups should only be hosted in countries who already have the stadiums or have a good use for them.

I agree that the stadiums in South Africa were oversized as well, but at least it's a vast country with over 50m people.

In Qatar, some stadiums are being built that are bigger than the cities surrounding them. 10 of the 12 World Cup stadiums are within 30 minutes (by car) of the city centre of Doha.
