I'm just saying it would be nice to have hardware based on the needs of adults, rather than every Nintendo hardware having to be anchored by the "well we have to make sure this will work well for little 10 year old Johnny".

And even after price cuts it's not like what Nintendo charges today is cheap either. The Wii U + New 3DS XL run $500, so I could've saved myself a trivial amount of money for waiting 2-3 years. I don't have a problem paying the money I just want to make sure I get something worth the dollar price they're asking for.

You're doing it again. I am an adult and the 3DS and Wii U meet my "needs." I don't even see what "needs" have to do with it, you obviously don't "need" more power because you bought both of those systems at launch. I don't see how being an adult relates to requiring more power, either. Seems to me most people grow out of the desire for bigger numbers as they get older.

You're still missing the point because Wii U and New 3DS are still too expensive -- worse, there is a cheaper model of New 3DS available in every major territory except North America. Again, I cut the cost of the hardware down by one-third, far from a trivial amount when discussing a sum north of $500.

That's fine that it meets your needs.

In my opinion it would be nice *for once* to have some of those restrictions that Nintendo places on themselves lifted.

The current hardware philosophy that they have sure as fuck is not resonating, not even with kids, so going a different route will at least be interesting to see.

You can't build hardware like it's 1988 anymore. The world has moved (way) past that, Nintendo is making products for a world that doesn't exist any more than a moonwalking Michael Jackson does. If Nintendo wants any relevancy then they have to adopt something different.
