They should've made the game pad optional, like the Wii Fit Balance Board is optional. You want it, buy Nintendo Land for $99.99 and you get the GamePad and you can play off-TV with it if that's what you want.
The main system should've had 1 TFLOP or so of horse power, 4GB of RAM.
And it shouldn't have been tied to the Wii brand. They should've just spun the Wii off into its own casual centric brand and instead of releasing that hideous Wii revision (the black/red one), released a HD capable Wii.
They may not be selling a ton unfortunately, but maybe a 25-40 million finish could've been doable in that case.
