Something, even gimped, is better than nothing. So that's one. Two, consistant support. Again, a game here or there results in a sale here or there. You can't toss out one game expect the same sales as the PS/XB version. You have to establish a consistant level of support AND TRUST. If you do not establish this support, they will not support you. And 1 or 2 third parties cannot do it alone. It must consistant across the 3rd party spectrum. Else you get fans that know of only 1 company they can trust and will support them....Nintendo. |
The third party is screwed either way.
If they make a port, and it's not on par with the others (which is won't be, a approximately 300 GFLOP console with only 1GB of RAM isn't going to much up with a 1.2TFLOP-1.8TFLOP console with 6GB of usable RAM) then Nintendo fans complain that the versions aren't equal.
If they don't port it because they can't make an equal version then they get crapped on too.
It's a lose lose situation, at least in this scenario they can better utilize their dev resources on the versions people would actually buy.
