What's the ratio on first-party sales for the same week?
To be honest, I think you make an interesting point -- but an analysis over a longer time period than one week would really be more appropriate.
For example, this week the Wii has a big first-party release (MK Wii) while the PS3 and Xbox 360 have a blockbuster third-party release (GTA IV). That would really skew the ratio -- for that week.
Without looking at the particulars for any week, it is very easy to make statistics say anything you want them to say. But if the analysis is spread out, such one-time market fluctuations become less of a dramatic one-time event and more of the actual description of the marketplace.
