I hope so but I feel that Western-design has penetrated gaming and is here to stay. We have seen Japanese built franchises like Metal Gear Solid adopting Western style gameplay and controls(went from top-down camera to behind the shoulder third-person, added camera control to the right stick etc). Even Final Fantasy XV has ditched the turn based battle system and has become a semi-hack & slash game, implemented cover system etc. Even Nintendo is trying their hand at making a competitive first-person shooter although it still has a Japanese twist to it. I feel that true Japanese style games will not be popular but I hope I am dead wrong
