You never know, PS6 might be about 4-5 years away and there is currently nothing besides Crossfire/SLi or single GPU's in the 1000$ range that can pull off 4k gaming with decent frame rates, and even then it is choppy at times. Even the Titan X has trouble with 4k and full AA, lighting and shadows in real-time.
Even the PS4's hardware is based on old tech by PC standards, even if the machine itself is new.

4k gaming is far off, but 4k TV is growing slowly but steadily, it will likely be more relevant a lot sooner than 4k gaming at any rate.

ps6 is not 4-5 years away. we just got the ps4 xD ps5 is 4-5 years away

Oops, sorry, meant PS5!

My point is that the bleeding edge of hardware tech today cannot pull off proper, fluid 4k gaming yet, so I don't think that it will be introduced in any mainstream devices for many, many years yet. Heck; the 8th gen consoles can barely output 1080p with proper post-processing and AA without taking severe hits on frame rates. I think this guy is right.
