3DS is definitely on the way out unfortunately.
I think they made a catastrophic mistake with the N3DS split. Instead of releasing a new mostly useless iteration that faced an impossible dilemma :
(a)- release enough new software that really took advantage of N3DS power to make it worth buying (which would piss off tons of people who bought a 3DS/3DSXL over the previous couple of years for sure)
or
(b)- release barely any new software that takes advantage of it, making it something of a superfluous waste of time
The price is the key. If they had dropped 3DS to $79, and 3DSXL to $99, and packed them with Pokemon and Mario bundles, they could have jump started the 3DS to insane numbers. Few people want to spend nearly $200 or more on a portable these days.
Just mho, I like my 3DSXL, but I'm never buying a N3DS, and the lack of major franchise titles is disheartening.
