First of all, how much do you care about 3D? With the new 3DS, they improved it significantly so it actually tracks your head meaning it doesn't go out of focus like the older models did. Additionally, the new 3DS has exclusive software (so far only Xenoblade Chronicles 3D), better load times and better graphics in some games. Finally, the 3DS XL is not compatible with the Circle Pad Pro, so you would have to live with a single stick if you went with that model (imo, the single stick works fine, but to each his own)

Probably wouldn't use the 3D much.  The older model is around $50 cheaper but the circle pro pad would be about $25, so its a tough decision.

You keep saying that... even the original model of the circle pad pro is compatible even with the XL... if you break the plastic casing at the side of the CPP since it's just an infra red connection it needs to the 3DS/XL.

But yeah having played through revelations completely using a CPP and used the nub to "control" or reset the camera in Majoras mask, really the CPP is far more comfortable to play with.... but massively less portable to use. (and the CPP takes a AAA battery since it isn't connected to the 3ds physically)
