For VGC's tracking, it's not that far off. For the re-release, it sold 1.1 million.

For actual regional breakdowns, the only information I could fine was from a Siliconera article in 2009, where it did 150k in NA and 250k in Europe.

 

Edit: I was searching for Media Create numbers, but I don't have a ton of time to research, so I settled for Famitsu.

NP, seems as though MH4U is currently 2nd for now? But i could of sworn i heard Capcom stated It was #1 in the west. My bad^

After doing a bit more looking around, I do think MH4U being the highest selling isn't wrong (because they're reported shipped + digital). VGC probably has the West 10-15% overtracked. That would put it under a million once, but still large enough to make out their regional distribution.
