Looking at wikipedia, they don't seem to have released a critically successful game. Does an official Xbox studio mean MS bought them? if so, why?

It's about potential, I'm sure they will get more funding and better resources now.

If they are buying potential, I find it hard to believe this was anywhere near their best bet. Unless they tried for other studios, who weren't interested. This studio's track record is poor.
