The NX will be hardware. Maybe two devices with the same OS that closely integrate with eachother. Nintendo needs to diversify its virtual console, make its eShop more competitive (some people won't buy a NES, SNES title for 4-6€ when it can be emulated everywhere nowadays), unify their libraries to avoid droughts or lack of third party, make crossbuying common, make a decent account system to reward loyalty...
