I love the idea of having multiple different platforms with the same or at least overlapping game libraries! This would solve the problem that Nintendo had developing the WiiU: Make a system that appeals to two completely different audiences, to both get the casual gamers on board again and make hardcore gamers happy...
It would be interesting how third parties react to it, though. If only the flagship console had enough power to run AAA titles and the user base was divided on many different hardwares it might put off third parties again... On the other hand I am skeptical if an exclusive "casual console" would sell. It would probably be highly dependent on the pricing...
Anyway, I could imagine Nintendo profiting of a shared software platform by making a dedicated tablet with the processor built inside. A gaming tablet offering Nintendo games as well as other games from an app store would sell like hotcakes among young gamers! It would be portable - unlike the WiiU gamepad - and they could make it possible to use it on the TV at home, too, or even as a WiiU-gamepad-like controller for another Nintendo hardware!
