Well to be fair, New 3DS is now 6 months old in Japan, expecting 3DS to be pushing large numbers in its 5th year without big releases is kinda niave.

It's not like DSi was some huge savior for DS either, in Japan DS was down like 7% YoY in 2009, that's with it being DSi's 1st full year and DSi XL releasing over the holidays.

Basically DSi & New 3DS purpose were just to give each generation an extra year or so before a successor released.

Exactly, better words than mine. Also 6 months already? Dayum, i think 3ds is more underlooked in sales than over :p
