I'd lurked here for about 3 years before I decided to join. Only active for the last six months or so, but I remember when I got that first friend request from spurgeonryan, I felt really good. Like I actually belonged to the VGC community. lol Sounds pretty cheesy, I'm sure.
Anyway, six months later (or really 3.5 years later), I'm still glad to be here. :)
It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P
