Is it because it allows them to feel like their PS4 purchase is justified if that happens, because personally I don't see the big deal with it also being on PS3.

Gives uneasy feeling namely with a game that is most likely coming out next year, that we are not using "modern generation" to the fullest potiential. 

Sony historically have always supported their consoles for a long time. I'd rather they continue to instill that reassurance in me as a buyer.

Hmm I have strange feeling we might not get the ps3 title in the west. Also wouldn't this be Square Enix's decision, not Sony.
