This is basically it. The Wii is a Super GameCube with motion controlls. It the GC didn't exist, the Wii would have been based on the N64, and that would have really limited the console in a time when you needed to fight the PS2 and its monster sales (also the Wii can't play non-videogame DVDs, so it would have looked bad during the DVD craze).
