But it is, the events of New York in the Avengers have a direct bearing on the series. They mention them several times. Heck on one Ben Urich's newspaper headlines from his office is he story on the attack on New York. Everything in the MCU takes place in the same universe.

So? That's still very loose references. It's not like the TV series or the movies will affect each other as in a real shared universe.

They do. The whole point of the MCU is for all properties controlled by Marvel to have a "real shared universe." You are confusing Marvel with DC. Despite having the TV and Movie rights to all it's properties. DC has seperate universes. The Green Arrow and Flash characters in the upcoming Justice League movies have nothing to due with the Arrow and Flash TV series.

Daredevil, Agents of Shield, Agent Carter, are all directly connected to the MCU. The same holds true for the upcoming Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Defenders programming coming to Netflix. The events of Captain America 2 directly affected Agents of Shield. The current season of Agents of Shield is setting up the Inhumans for the Avengers  2 etc. etc. Daredevil directly references events and characters from Marvel owned properties. It's part of the reason why the casting for MCU shows are such a big deal. They are being cast for the MCU not just the TV show or movie they are in.

The only things that aren't in the shared universe are X-Men Characters and the Fantastic Four. Fox has the movie rights to both properties. Sony and Marvel have come to an agreement so Spiderman will be in the MCU now. Some characters can be used by both, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver for example, because they aren't exclusively part of one property. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, despite being Magneto's children and mutants, were charter members of Avengers West Coast.

Side note: Marvel seems to be killing off characters they don't have the cinematic rights too. Wolverine and now Deadpool have been killed in the comic universe.
